Thanks, @srgdamiano and @shicks! After working through the code, what seemed to work was actually placing the sensor sleep commands in my getdata() function. For whatever reason it didn’t work too well in the systemSleep function as it seemed to stall my sensors and not allow enough time to wakeup the sensors for reading. Still working on cleaning…[Read more]

@shicks, that’s great to hear that you have a bunch of tipping buckets connected directly to the Mayfly. Could you share that code with us? Is it integrated with ModularSensors? It would be very valuable to do that.
I can’t remember all the reasons for developing the TippingBucketRainCounter device application for the Pro Trinket. I do remember…[Read more]

@shicks I ended up just going with UART and software serial for now and it works great. I couldn’t get past the interference through the I2C. It seems that for some reason having both sensors on isolated carrier boards plugged into an I2C hub caused interference. As soon as you unplug one of them the other one turns on and the Mayfly functions a…[Read more]

Thank you @shicks.
That set me on the right track. I think I can figure the rest out from here.
Just to make sure my understanding is correct, the ADS1115 is included in the Mayfly because it provides more voltage resolution than on standard analog pins, i.e. it allows for finer divisions than 0-1023 bits?
Thanks for your help.

I checked my GMI_EC5 station that I mentioned above that was not keeping up and I measured about 2.4 mA current draw when the mayfly is in sleep mode. I thought it should be close to zero when in sleep mode.
Any thoughts Shannon?

I checked Amazon and finally discovered that “envirodiy mayfly protoshield” works for a search. Did not have envirodiy in my search query.
I just bought the last one so guess time to restock

I just checked Amazon and no Protoshields showing. I guess shipment processing isn’t one day turnaround! -

Thanks Robert, Cal, Jim and others for this thread, and to @shicks for providing all those updates on the Hologram situation.
I would like to add that our team overseeing the Monitor My Watershed portal has also noticed some issues on our end, which are separate from the Hologram issues, and we are working on improving MMW services.

Okay. I misunderstood.
I thought you were saying that ONLY 2G stations were affected. I did see that the Punches Run station was back up this morning.
Thanks for the clarification.

My bad for starting this post in the wrong category. I should have paid more attention!
Forgive my ignorance about the technical details of cellular service but …
As for “any stations currently offline right now are likely using 2G hardware…”, SL168 (Punches Run was upgraded to 4G in 2019 but was still down. If the logger…[Read more] -

@shicks, I’m just wondering if you have the range of measurement accuracy for measuring batteryV, when running off the battery.
I’m using Mayfly 0.5b, but getting some strange results with Q1/FDN340P not turning on, just the FDN340 diode conducting and U2/SPX3819 actually 3.0V.
thanks

This is great news! Thank you @srgdamiano and @ckillen!! I’ve begun ordering parts for 9 additional stations and have been fearing that buying another 9 XBee3 LTE-M modems was going to lead us into a world of frustration with failing modems; hopefully this discovery prevents that.
Regarding XBee firmware: Just a week ago, we deployed a batch of…[Read more]

@shicks came over to my office yesterday with a pile of LTE XBee3’s that will no longer connect to the internet. We’re going to buy some alternative types of modems to see if any of them are any better.

Hi Neil, thanks so much – the detail is appreciated! I need to check with our hydrology staff to learn their accuracy requirements. To date, our Mayfly deployments have used the CTD-10 from Meter, but we have a new site where we’re only interested in depth, and the MaxSonar would be a cost savings over the CTD-10 in that case. However, I’m…[Read more]

@shicks Shannon, I am new to the site. I am working on a monitoring project with a local non-profit studying acid mine drainage in the Schuylkill River and tribs. We don’t provide kits or sensors since there are an unlimited number of sensors (in a variety of configurations) that people could use with a Mayfly logger. We only offer the Mayfly board, or the starter kit, and a handful of accessories that work specifically with the Mayfly. Everything else is sources from various stores and online vendors.…[Read more]
