Some LiPo batteries have the JST connector reversed and that may be your problem. Check the battery with a VOM to make sure the red wire is + and black is –

@shicks. I tested the converters you recommended and they appear to work as expected:
dropout voltage is 8 Volts and will support input voltage to 31.5 V (max on my bench PS).
No load draw is 3.64 mA at 12 V and 2.83 mA at 31.5 V.
A lower cost option is a three terminal non-isolated converter at $2.76 ea vs $12 for the PlusRoc.

Thanks! I just ordered two. My four port sampler project uses 12V motors which draw about 0.4A so I guess that would be an option to use the 12V output and LiPo 3.7V batteries.
I assume this converter uses switching so it should be reasonably efficient. I’ll le you know how they work. Good old amazon – I should get them tomorrow!

Hi @shicks I got my 5 pack of the v1.1 boards today and I noticed that:
- Removed External/Lipo slide switch since it’s no longer needed
Does that mean I can no longer power the Mayfly from a 12 V supply? I have an application for water sampling and the pumps run on 12V and they are controlled by the Mayfly so I can power the whole system wit…[Read more]

It may be that MMW doesn’t like the underscore. I had a similar problem when I used # in the name of my stations.

I assume that the NeoSWSerial function is needed. to talk to the sim7080 and that is why I am not getting any response from the modem

The new sim7080 is plugged directly into the Mayfly 0.5b.

@srgdamiano @hicks
Current status of my problem; I am using the 0.5 Mayfly board and have changed to appropite line from 18 to -1 and I get compile errors related to NeosWSerial.ccp. I have updated all my libraries and still get the same error.
If I comment out the lib entry for NeoSWSerial the sketch compiles but when loaded the console…[Read more]

@damiano – I am attempting to upgrade my LEC stations to the new 4G s
Simcom boards and I am getting compile errors relating to “NeoSWSerial.cpp”. I attached a screen shot of the error message. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

I observed the same issue on one of my sensor stations with last data on Dec 7 at 12:55. I have 4G modems and was working fine till then. I am located in elverson Pa. I thought it was a modem failure which Shannon has had a bunch of. Maybe the Amazon cloud server problem.

I have a similar issue with the need to collect a water sample. We have an array of LEC water monitors in the various UNT’s into Great Marsh. One is downstream of the Turnpike service plaza and we are seeing the usual EC spikes correlated with the winter weather. However, a few are very large and don’t seem to be weather correlated hence the…[Read more]

I just tried this with Safari on my iMac and the scroll works to change scale so must be a Chrome problem which I typically use. I have Chrome Version 89.0.4389.82 (Official Build) (x86_64)

My problem is that GMI_EC1 has conductivity spikes up to 900,ooo µS. The TSA chart auto scales to that level. If I hover over EC axis and left click I can shift the scale location but I want to hover around zero and expand the scale so the all the lower EC readings are displayed. I could do this a few weeks ago and my mouse wheel is working on…[Read more]

I noticed this week that the TSA charts can not be scaled with the mouse scroll button but they can be shifted. Something changed since I was able to scale and move any of the displayed parameters.
I couldn’t find this issue in any other threads so I bring it up here. Perhaps there was a recent update and that feature got broken?

Jim Moore replied to the topic Case for Lower Threshold Voltage on Mayfly Stations in the forum Mayfly Data Logger 1 year, 11 months ago
Couple of clarifications:
- The discharge is a fixed load of 22Ω so ohm’s law works!
- My question is why is the Mayfly station drawing less and less current as it approaches 3.3 Volts? Yet the 4G modems continue to work and upload the data.
- I believe that Shannon said that some older sd cards tend to cause current draw during sleep mode. Ma…
