Hi All. I’m working with the Great Lakes Observing System to assess the viability of sharing our data through their data portal. https://seagull.glos.org/landing
I’m wondering if there is potential to send our data to Seagull through MMW?
Thanks.

Nuts that it sounds like the switch might be oxidizing. The switch solves a power vampire problem by switching off the CP210x – so I would expect the processor to carry on working. You might check what the humidity levels are in the unit, ensure that its largely isolated from fogs and possibly put in some dessicant to dry it out. At one point I…[Read more]

On a Linux box(but really any platform I suspect), especially with mayflies that have been in the field for a time, the USB port goes dead. Strangely the Mayfly seems to continue to work, you just can’t connect to the serial port, and or upload new code. You can tell because with the USB switch(the double dip switch for power light and USB l…[Read more]

Hi Eric. this is a voltage sensor, so it fits a pretty basic type of sensor, measure the voltage and then translate it to depth.
For a sensor, layers of calibration give value. Calibration of the sensor to defined units (V to mm), and calibration of the water height to the measured height in the flume.
The accuracy sounds pretty reasonable, for…[Read more]

Thank you for the replay. Do you know the data logger’s maximum sampling rate (logging rate)? A LICOR rep said that the LI-710 transmits 10 Hz data

I spoke too soon. The Campbell ClariVUE10 eventually developed interval reporting issues with the last library that I mentioned above so I copied the libraries from my old computer onto my new computer because it was the last set of libraries that didn’t have issues. But now it is having interval reporting issues too and the CTD sensor readings…[Read more]

The electronics themselves are rated up to 85 degrees C (185F). We’ve never had an issue with the boards at high temperatures, it’s just that the lipo battery packs don’t really like extreme temps (either hot or cold) because they don’t charge efficiently. Just doing a cursory check of random stations on Monitor My Watershed in warm climates, I…[Read more]

Thank you for your reply. Do you anticipate the coding to be intensive (more than a few hundred lines)?
Yes, I would be powering the LI-710 with a deep cycle AGM battery.
On a different note, what temperatures has the Mayfly and LTE Bee been tested in?
I would be deploying it in an area where temperatures surpass 115 f.

A Mayfly Data Logger should be able to communicate with a LI-710, but someone would have to write a specific SDI12 library file of commands for that sensor, using the example command info in the manual. It also looks like it’s a continuously-powered sensor, requiring 0.125mA at 12v, with up to 2A during initial startup. I assume you’ll be po…[Read more]

Sorry for the delay. I’m planning to use it in an H-flume that has a maximum depth of 0.45 meters. It looks like precision is listed as 0.25 mm but I’m okay with accuracy closer to 2 mm.
And thanks for the sensor range info. I’ll plan to install the eTape in a probe well attached to the flume that extends below the flume entrance elevation. I…[Read more]

I am thinking about buying a LI-710 Evapotranspiration Sensor https://licor.app.boxenterprise.net/s/3uehdcs2tkwhb120zm3l961pauvjhl9d
I was wondering if I could use a Mayfly as a data logger for it without needing to buy a SDI-12 adaptor
Thank you, Adam
