        Hello,

Our group ordered the Digi Xbee 3 Global Modems (XB3-C-GM2-UT-001) to connect to our Mayfly boards. We have a combination of 0.5b and 1.1 boards that we use in the field. I have been using a 1.1 board to perform tests on the new modems but I have not had any success uploading the data to Monitor My Watershed. I have attached the sketch I have been working with below. I have tried using the DigiXBeeLTEBypass, the DigiXBee3GBypass, and the DigiXbeeCellularTransparent under the “Wifi/Cellular Modem Options” section. Most of the time, when I compile the sketch and open the serial monitor, it indicates “Bad timestamp, not setting clock” at the beginning and starts reading the parameters. When trying to upload, the following message appears:

        Sending data to [ 0 ] data.envirodiy.org

         — Unable to Establish Connection to EnviroDIY Data Portal —

        — Response Code —

        504

Has anyone had any success using these modems? If so, would you be able to provide an example sketch?

        Thank you,

        Caroline

Digi brand boards won’t work with the Mayfly v0.5 boards unless you also use one of the special adapter boards we used to make and sell, but we haven’t used those since 2020 when the Mayfly v1.0 boards came out.  The 1.0 and 1.1 Mayfly boards eliminate the need for an adapter between the Digi board and the Mayfly, but you still have to make changes to certain solder jumpers on the bottom of the Mayfly board, and also make changes to the sample Arduino sketch since they’re mostly all written for the EnviroDIY sim7080 LTE board.  Which Mayfly version are you trying to use with your Digi board?

            Hi Shannon,

We are using the Mayfly version 1.1 board to test the Digi modems. The specific Digi modem we are testing is linked below.

Did you make the changes to the Mayfly’s solder jumpers and sketch?  There’s a discussion about the necessary changes here:  https://www.envirodiy.org/topic/digi-ltebee-on-mayfly-v1-x/
