About Me

I am a Civil Engineer with the USDA-NRCS in Bismarck, North Dakota. We are attempting to implement the MayFly Data Logger into our watershed analysis procedures, for the purpose of gaining real-time data. We will initially start with monitoring river levels using water pressure sensors.

As of this date, I have recently joined the USDA-NRCS and my previous work for the past seven years has been as a Structural Engineer in the construction industry. Over the last few months I have been able to engross myself in the world of open-source technology, which has been a grueling, but beneficial endeavor. As of right now I have been able to construct a working data logger, mainly due to the fact that the tutorial information provided from EnviroDIY, has been very helpful and clear. I plan to learn as much as I can so that we can develop a well developed working knowledge of environmental data logging.

I currently live in Bismarck, ND with my wife and our four children. I am a graduate of North Dakota State University (BS and MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering). I have a love for running, which gets me out into the great unknown occasionally. I love being outdoors; gardening with my wife, building projects around the house, playing and going on hikes/runs with the kids and taking care of our ten chickens we just got this year. For that reason, I look forward to deploying these data loggers in the field.

Thank you and God Bless,

Tom Schanandore, P.E.
