Bernard is a hydrologist and works as researcher and consultant at moisture matters (The Netherlands). His expertise includes measuring and modelling evaporation, simulating vadose zone flows and determining groundwater recharge. By creating a strong combination between field measurements, laboratory research and hydrological models, he investigates interactions between atmosphere, vegetation, soil and groundwater. Among other things, his research has led to an ingenious measuring system to determine evaporation and new insights into the evaporation from natural vegetation.
