That doesn’t really explain the problem though so would love it if someone has any ideas what was going wrong.

The errors I have received are:

  • avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
    avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 1 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x00
